A: The BabySmile nasal aspirator can be used for babies, children, and adults.
A: Fit the silicone tip into one nostril and seal tightly to create suction.
A: The BabySmile S-502 is designed for home use, as it requires a power connection. It is slightly more expensive than the BabySmile Portable S-302 but has a substantially greater suction power, making mucus removal much easier. The BabySmile Portable S-302 is ideal for use outside of the home: it’s easier to carry around because of its smaller size, and the battery power means it can be used anywhere!
A: Two AA batteries will give you enough power to suction up to 1,000 times (approximately 5 seconds per suction).
A: This product is intended for the suction of nasal mucus. Please do not use it for any other purpose.
A: Suctioning your child’s nose for an extended period of time can cause pain in the ears.
Instead, suction in several short repetitions of 3-5 seconds in each nostril. Keep an eye on your baby’s face and if there is any indication of pain, stop suctioning immediately.
Aspirating after your child’s bath may make suction easier as the nasal cavity will be warm. Using a facial steamer around your child’s nose may also help.
A: Both the BabySmile S-502 and BabySmile Portable S-302 aspirators are electronic, so they have a steady suction motion, rather than a pump motion. Manual mouth suction and bulb aspirators can cause parents fatigue after the first couple of minutes, but battery-operated aspirators can provide a steady pressure over multiple suctions.
A: Occasionally, if both nostrils are blocked with mucus, extended periods of suction can cause pressure or pain in your child’s ears. Make sure to suction for short periods of 3-5 seconds only. Monitor your baby’s face and stop suctioning immediately at any sign of pain.
A: Do not aspirate the mucus if there is any inflammation, wounds or broken skin on the inside of the nostril. Also refrain from using a nasal aspirator after a nosebleed.
A: Make sure the silicone tip is inserted tightly into the nostril and that no air is escaping. Even a small gap between the nostril and the tip of the aspirator can render the suction ineffective.
